Dr. Richard B. Shaffer, DC
I have practiced traditional, full-spine chiropractic care in Austin, TX since 1998. I'm originally from Iowa and graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic. My approach is built on listening — a careful history and an honest exam, conducted without a clock running, because I believe that is how real diagnosis works.
Patients come to 34th Street Chiro by Richard B. Shaffer because they want a chiropractor who treats them like a person, not a billable visit. I provide full-spine and extremity adjustments, soft-tissue therapy, and rehabilitative guidance. I do not sell packages, I do not pressure ongoing care, and I do not believe in one-size-fits-all protocols.
Outside the office, I'm an avid member of this community. I'm also a dedicated animal rescue advocate, especially German Shepherds. I also play the flute and am a member of several Austin music associations.
Practice Philosophy
Thorough exams
Every new patient gets a full intake — postural, orthopedic, and neurological — before any adjustment.
Conservative care
We aim to resolve the issue and discharge you, not bill you for years.
Patient education
You'll leave each visit understanding what we found and what to do at home between visits.
